About Dr. Candicee Childs, MD, MHA
 

Hello and welcome!

Dr. Candicee (pronounced Can-dee-see) Childs is a physician, author, TEDx speaker, mentor, and mental wellness advocate passionate about helping individuals pursue purpose, overcome adversity, and care for their mental well-being along the way.

A proud Savannah, Georgia native, Dr. Childs is a PGY-4 psychiatry resident at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, Massachusetts, and is currently pursuing fellowship for child and adolescent psychiatry. Her passion and interests centers on mental wellness, resilience, empathy, youth development, and helping others recognize their potential.

Dr. Childs is the author of the Christian memoir Lemons, Lemonade, and the Lemonade Stand: My Bittersweet Journey to Medical School and the children's picture book Cece's Sour & Sweet Journey to Medical School, which encourages young readers to embrace perseverance, dream boldly, and see themselves in STEM and medicine.

Her passion for storytelling extends to the stage. In 2023, she was a TEDxSavannah speaker, where she discussed embracing empathy while protecting your own mental wellness. In 2024, she served as a Spring Commencement Speaker for Georgia Southern University's Waters College of Health Professions and Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health. Dr. Childs holds three degrees: a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, a Master of Health Administration from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Spanish from Valdosta State University. She also holds certifications in nutrition and personal training through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Her accomplishments include being a Groves High School Salutatorian, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Superintendent's Award recipient, two-time Master Georgia 4-H'er, 2015 VSU Blazer Leader of the Year, 2015 VSU Distinguished Woman of Excellence, Medical College of Georgia Gold Humanism Honor Society recipient, and recipient of more than 20 scholarships. In 2024, she received the Valdosta State University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumna Award for the College of Science and Mathematics.

Through her medicine, writing, speaking, mentorship, and personal brand, Brighter with Dr. Childs, she strives to make a positive impact and leave people brighter than when she found them.
